"Current" policy calls for players to stand for the anthem and face the flag, but no player has been disciplined for a protest.
So why the need for a memo and up coming meeting on the "take a knee" problem?
The NFL could have avoided all of this by simply enforcing the rules over a year ago. But no, the PC culture has so scrambled the minds of the NFL that a rational decision on a rules violation is not possible.
The NFL is on the brink of a financial disaster with their compliancy with the "take a knee" protest. It's their show, what does or does not happen is on their brand. Mr Goodell's statement "we need to move past this controversy" Is nothing more than a hope that this all just disappears, people quit caring, anything but enforce the NFL rules. What's next Mr. Goodell? What PC demand will you (the NFL) "Take a Knee" for next? Only time will tell.
One prediction before I go.
This meeting Goodell has called will stop the "Take a knee" Protest. Only to replace it with a 30 second spot placed in a prime advertising slot of TV commercial time on every game this season. Featuring NFL player's on "social injustice" and how your are to blame.
